The
Center for Strongly Correlated Materials Research (CSCMR) became a science
research center (SRC) for excellence officially supported by the Ministry
of Science and Technology and KOSEF on July 2, 1999. CSCMR focuses on
research topics such as metal-insulator transition, heavy Fermion systems,
high Tc superconductivity, the Kondo effect, and colossal magneto-resistance.
Understanding the physical properties of strongly correlated materials
such as high Tc superconductors and colossal magneto-resistance materials
has recently become a key issue in condensed matter physics, and this
issue is expected to contribute significantly to the development of a
new paradigm and future technological applications.
CSCMR pursues the performance of basic research for technological applications
of strongly correlated materials and expects to become an internationally
renowned research center for strongly correlated materials research in
the near future.
