The College of Natural Sciences evolved from the College of Liberal Arts
and Sciences when the latter was divided in 1975 into three colleges for
the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
The College is dedicated to the ideals of teaching and research in science.
It encompasses a broad range of disciplines spanning all branches of the
natural sciences: mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, biology,
earth and environmental sciences. In addition, it fosters newly emerging
areas through its many interdisciplinary programs. With a full-time faculty
of more than 200, the College is by far the largest and the most well-known
center of science in Korea. With its rapidly increasing prominence in the
world of science, the College has achieved recognition as a world class
institution in recent years.
